Sports and Recreational Liability

Many of the attorneys in the firm have extensive sports and leisure backgrounds. Included are snow skiers, ice and in-line skaters, competitive swimming coaches, life guards, SCUBA divers, track and field and distance runners, weight lifters, tennis players, golfers, dog trainers, hunters, fishermen, soccer players and referees. The firm has handled numerous cases relying in part on the defenses of primary assumption of the risk and express waiver and release clauses. Attorneys in the firm have drafted such clauses for local sports leagues, including the only Los Angeles County Lawyer's Sports League and several local gymnastics schools.

Over the years attorneys in the firm have defended public and private entities owning and operating playing fields, swimming pools, gymnasiums and health clubs; manufacturers, retailers and rental facilities providing snow skis, bindings, boots, boards and accessories, in-line skates and accessories; gymnastics, martial arts and equestrian schools, rental stables and their staff; professional jockeys and thoroughbred race horse owners and trainers; youth and adult ice hockey teams, coaches, participants, leagues and governing bodies; ice skating rinks; youth summer camps; youth clubs; and various sports leagues and officials.
